Kumano Hongo Taisha Featuring CIetaka Kuki

Set amongst the dense forest of the Kii Mountain range, Kumano is considered one of the three most spiritual locations in all of Japan and is where you will find the Kumano Kodo, the most important pilgrimage routes in all of Japan. This ancient network of roads connects the three grand shrines of Kumano, one of which is Kumano Hongu Taisha. For more than 1,000 years it has been the site of many mystical and mythological legends some of which date back to the founding of Japan. Even today many pilgrims travel to Kumano in search of spiritual yomigaeri or “rebirth”
